Trail Tamers News Letter

To the membership: From the President.

A new winter season is upon us. Its time to RE NEW memberships and friendships and bring on the SNOW. We apologize for the news letter being late. Its been a busy holiday.

TO ALL MEMBERS. Monterey Jacks is open for our clubs activities. Meetings are the 1st @ 3rd THURSDAYS at 6:30 PM. Please come and share any ideas you have. Everyone is welcome and meetings are always open for any discussion that is for the betterment of the club.

120 PARTY: Once again our 120 party is at Monterey Jacks on January 28th 2012 at 1:00pm. Our club had one of the most successful 120 parties to date last year. We had snow, we had food and we had drink. Lets try and top last years. Our club earned over $3000 on this event and that is great.

CLUB RAFFLE. We are raffling off a 2010 550 Polaris Shift IQ this year and we are coordinating the raffle with the 120 party again so we should have a good turn out. Members Eric Machuga and Tim Sleve picked up sled from Lake Country Motor Sports. Member Chad Macri spent his time calling numerous dealers to try and find a sled for the club to raffle and this is the best deal in the area. So thank these members when you see them. Thanks guys.

Ski Doo is again donated $10 to clubs for each member that applies for the form and drops it off at a Ski Doo dealership before November 15 2011. You can get your personalized form mailed to you by visiting the Ski Doo site and filling out the requested info. This may not seem like a big deal but the club could get paid up to $1500 club dollars if 150 people do this. Even if you love Polaris or Artic Cats. A small price for pride.

SAFETY CERTIFICATION COURSE: Club member Joe Collins is again scheduling this course for sometime in January / February 2012. Anyone interested can sign up or get details from the club web site or contact Joe directly from his info on web site. Anyone interested has to be 10 years of age to get certification and should have an adult present. The safety course in December Joe had 20 people and that is the most we ever have had. And more want to take it so Joe is making a list for January.

We have started the 50/50 drawings during meetings again. This helps to fund the members that are out grooming our trails in the winter. Thanks to the members that come

too the meetings and contributed to the trail fund.

Our club members had the club Ranger and raffle sled in the parade of lights. We had a good showing and had lots of interest. Club members set up a booth at the Corning Sparkle again this year, a BIG thank you to all of them members that came out to support the club and sell tickets. We sold 65 tickets during the event. Great Job.

A Big Thank You to Jamie and Nicki Day for the set up and forms for these events. The amount of club members that came out for all these events was awesome. There are too many people to name them all, so for those of you that couldn't make it or had other things going on you missed a great showing by our club members. There are a lot more people that know where Monterey New York is because of our display.

December was elections of officers. Nominations were done during the December meetings. Club officers stayed the same as last year with only a small change. As listed below.

December 17th was the club Christmas party. We had many members and some land owners in attendance. We had 22 kids signed up to see Santa, the most kids ever at our party. That is our next generation of riders. A BIG THANK YOU to Tom and Sally MacDougal for being Santa's helpers. The gifts the kids received were awesome. A big THANK YOU to Jamie Day for volunteering for santa's  stand in for the day. Great Job.

Trail Tamers Club House: Our club is currently examining different options of obtaining property for the club. We are just starting a building committee to review this info and make recommendations to the board and then to the membership. If anyone is interested in being on the building committee contact an officer or come to a meeting.

CLUB EQUIPMENT: Any one that rode on the trails this last year can attest to the condition the trails were in. The clubs new Polaris Ranger is the biggest reason for this. This new piece of equipment enabled club members to perform grooming on trails that in past years were sub par at best. The Ranger is versatile enough for many club members to use it without numerous hours of training as is the case with the class A groomer. Case in point, grooming duties were shared by many members instead on 1 or 2. Feel free to thank all the club members that spent time grooming our trails this past season. GREAT JOB.

The club maintenance crew held (2) work bees to work on the class A groomer. For two Sundays in a row your club members worked 10 to 12 hours each day with 8 to 10 people each time. What a huge under taking it is to re track that machine and what an unbelievable job was done in that time. A big Thank You to Jeff Sutton for using his garage and tools. Thanks Jeff. Also for those helping, Aaron Dudek, Joe Black, Dave Rich, Steve Alldridge, Dan Tieman, Ty Rogers, Steve Dyer, Joe Collins, and others that I probably have unintentionally forgotten. As this was a huge project. A special thanks to Aarons wife Leslie for the hot meals for the guys working on groomer. So if you see any of these members give them a  Big Thanks for a job well done.
